Book Description
The advent of a spiritual Master is in itself a great blessing upon mankind. An opportunity to meet him is even more rare. The chance to listen to his teachings and to serve him, is indeed sheer grace. If all these three happen in the lifetime of a person, and if the Master is pleased, and looks with a compassionate glance at the student even once, his life becomes fulfilled.
Such awakened Masters are very few upon this earth. Their mere presence purifies the atmosphere wherever they go. Like a breeze that enters the house whose windows are open, so also, such masters refine those with whom they come into contact. Such a Master is Swami Chidananda.
This book is the quintessence of his teachings in two parts: Swami Chidananda and Chidananda t The division is from the standpoint of the seeker. The first part constitutes the seeking and the second part is the awakening. From Swami Chidananda's standpoint, there are no such divisions. He is what he was on the day he surrendered to his teacher Swami Sivananda. Since then his entire life has been lived in that total surrender when he merged into the Infinite.
If ever humility and tapas were to be given a name and form, it would be Swami Chidananda. This book portrays through pictures and words, the glorious light of the Self that infuses his frail form. The Light shining in him in silent splendour is one that no man can "see", yet it becomes evident by just being in his presence.
"Chidanandaji was a great yogi and saint in his previous birth itself; this is his last birth. Chidananda is a jeevanmukta, a great saint, an ideal yogi, a para bhakta and a great sage. Swami Chidananda is this and much more. He is the kohi-i-noor of the mission. Chidanandaji's lectures are the outpourings of his saintly heart, the revelations of his intuitive wisdom. His lectures must be printed in gold."
