Preface
When God created Adam and Eve the first blessing He pronounced to them was; "Be fruitful and multiply" (Gen 1:28). This explicitly tells that from the very beginning it was God's plan that man and woman should multiply. They were, in other sense, imbued with the power to procreate. Therefore, children are a blessing from God. The Psalmist witness to this by proclaiming; "Children are a heritage from the Lord". As such, the covenant community considered children as precious gift from God. Some gifts come with responsibility. And this is one gift that comes with responsibility to care and nurture for the Lord.
