About the Book 'Colour of Night' itself is compiled with veneer & perfect suitable title. Though night is deep dark. But after each darkness the bright ray of Sun appears and that first ray of the Sun converts into a symbol of brightness. Shoukat Shoro's stories unfold the narrative of wandering in the wilderness and after a deep dark night there is a certainty of brightness.
Some of his stories are subjective, and some stories are based on reality of his inter relationship with human beings on the earth.
About the Author Shoukat Hussain Shoro's stories have Inertia, misfitness, soliloquy, indecisiveness, apathy, frigid sentiments, loneliness, stream of consciousness and flash back techniques. And we would get many more instances those were the symbols of the miserable and angry youth from the period of second half of 20th century. According to me "Scared Man" is one of the masterpiece story among thousands of stories in Sindhi language. it's not only exemplary but also it reflects the personality of Shoukat Shoro. The finest qualities are indeed reflected in these stories. The stories of Shoukat are known for their fine dialogues and monologues.

Preface It was the period when we, writers in India, used to only hear names of writers in Sindh. There was a strong longing in everyone's heart to visit Sindh and pay obeisance to motherland and also see writer friends. This book and the small write up inside was a pleasant surprise for me. I felt like shaking hands with ShoukatShoro. Thereafter, there have been occasions when we shook our hands in person, felt warmth of affection while hugging each other. The bond continues.
