In recognition of his scholarship in Sanskrit Literature and Vedanta Philosophy, he was awarded a Gold Medal in 2012. A gifted orator, V N Deshpande regularly delivered lectures on religion and philosophy on various platforms including the Theosophical Society. He was an English teacher and retired as the headmaster. He was a visiting faculty at the BEd College run by the Dakshin Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha.
