Book Description

About the Book
Under the influence of the present era of Kali Yuga, when everything seems to be other than what it is, Sri Ramakrishna, the divine child, proclaimed in his sweet and sonorous voice, that God is not the exclusive possession of any single religious community. He is the basis of all religious faiths. People of different communities such as the Hindus, the Buddhists, the Christians, the Muslims, and others are all children of the same Divine Mother, who inspires them equally. All the religious faiths and organisations represent so many sacred paths towards divinity.

About the Author
DR SUDHISH CHANDRA BANERJEE has taken up studies on Ramakrishna-Vivekananda literature for the last few decades, post retirement as Deputy Director from a CSIR Institute at Dhanbad, and is publishing his findings on the same in various English and Bengali Journals, as a free-lance writer intending to share his thoughts with others.

During his working period at the CSIR Institute, the author, a PhD in Chemistry from the Calcutta University, published two reference books on his specialization, Mine Fires, published by AA Balkema, the Netherlands, and Oxford IBH Pub. Co. India, simultaneously. He had around 5o research papers published in various national and international journals of repute and also 2 patents on his specialization.

Foreword
Dr Sudhish Chandra Banerjee had been trying to study Swami Vivekananda over a long period and this culminated in summing up his thoughts in the form of articles, some of which I had a good fortune to go through when they were published as separate articles. Now those writings have been compiled in the form of a book.

In this book he has highlighted seven exceptional traits of Swamiji - as rationalist, artist, scientist, teacher, thinker, patriot and institution-builder. The articles analyse Swamiji on these aspects and give a glimpse of the towering personality of Swami Vivekananda - the Voice of Sri Ramakrishna, the very thought of whose name elevates the inner divinity ingrained within every being.

I wish this book would invoke more interest in Swamiji's thoughts and life and be beneficent to the society and humanity.

Preface
Swami Vivekananda (1863-1902) - the Voice of Sri 1.3 Ramakrishna Paramahansa, the Prophet of the modern world - rose to his eminence after he swayed the entire audience of the Chicago Parliament of Religions (Sept. 1893) with his eloquence as a divine right and the wisdom of a saint. For the next nine years, the cyclonic monk, as he was lovingly called, raised a storm globally, not only preaching the harmony of different religious faiths of all sects and nations, but also introducing the concept that art, science and religion are but three different ways of expressing the same truth, and declaring in unequivocal terms the innate divinity of man, striving to manifest which should be the aim of all human efforts in life. Vivekananda has now been identified as a symbol of strength, purity, renunciation and sainthood. With his highly scientific outlook, vast spiritual knowledge, and deep patriotic fervor, he is regarded as one of the main moulders of modern India.

His friends and admirers included not only the then liberal religious leaders of different religions, but also agnostics and the 19th century luminaries in different walks of life. They were scholars of different Universities globally, eminent scientists and technologists of that period, established artists and stalwarts in the, musical field, business tycoons, senior administrators, political leaders, besides innumerable people in different countries whosoever came in close contact with him. Many followed him and became his disciples with lifelong commitment to serve his life's mission.
