About the Book The stories in this book were collected in the course of Kesar Lall's travels to different parts of Nepal and they reveal the distinctive aspects of that area. The local people have been handing down these tales orally from one generation to another, to teach them how the brave and good are awarded, and the greedy and the wicked punished.
Preface In the course of half a century, Ratna Pustak Bhandar has brought out a number of publications on Nepalese folklore. Twenty one tales about people and animals are included in this volume from three previous publications Black Rice (1993), The Origin of Alcohol (1993) and The Queen's Temple (1994). These tales from different parts of the country reveal how the brave and the good are awarded and the greedy and the wicked punished.
