Book Description

About the Book
Ladakh lies on the southern slopes of "the roof of the world", the parts of which fall within Ladakh are drained by the Indus and its tributaries and is linked with the Kashmir Valley by a very narrow deep gorge and Zoji-Ia (pass) which is the lowest within the whole length of 2000 miles of the Himalaya, extending from Assam to Afghanistan.

In this book author has described vividly that the villages in Ladakh are not a cluster of mud-huts sheltering in the floor of the valley, but one or two square and many stories houses and Gumpas rising boldly out of the hillside with flat roofs and faded fluttering prayer- flags: inside the life is peaceful, many Lamas and nuns chanting their mantras and squishing their prayer-wheels.
