On obtaining his Master's degree he joined the teaching staff of St. Joseph's College (Bangalore) in 1927 he filled the Professorial chair of the department of history and Archaeology. He also acted as Honorary reader of the Department of Politics and Public Administration for a term of two years from 1945 to 1947.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e Professor Dikshitar contributed innumerable research papers to scholarly journals in India and abroad. He was General Editor of Madras University Historical Series.
