Preface
The customary practice of every Astrologer is to erect Rashi chart, Navamsha chart and Bhava chart before venturing into delineation, After the Rashi chart, Navamsha chart is the most required and important chart. When we look into the Rashi chart and Navamsha chart, it will be very easy to understand in which Nakashatra pada the planets are placed.

As said in the dictum Gahanna Mahakam Balam, it is easy to understand the strength and weakness of a planet from the Navamsha chart. Navamsha helps us in the predictive process when we analyze the karakatva and lordship of the planets.

Navamsha has been dealt with in details by many Vedic seers in their works; to name a few, Acharya Varahamihira his son Prithyushas, Kalyana Verma, Vaisyanatha, Gunaakara, Matreshwara, Vidyaranya, Balabhadra, Dhundiraja, Kamalaakaram Meenaraja and others. The treatises to name a few are Vriddha Yavana Jataka, Horasaara, Yavana Jaataka, and Nakshatra Choodaamani. Likewise there taka Tatwa, Chandrakalaa Naadi, Budha Naadi, Dhruva Naadi/Jaataka Satyachaariyam/Antargata Satya Samhita. We can also see that Navmasha has been dealt with in the scriptures - Jamini Sutra, Kaalachakra Dasha, Sarvatobhadra Chakra, Ankana Shastra written by Vyaghra Paada.

S Krishnaiengaar wrote a series of informative articles during November 1968 to 1971 in ‘ The Astrological Magazine’ published by Dr. B.V. Raman. It is highly desirable for the student and the teachers to study this treasure.
