About The Book

Man is unique due to his developed cerebral system, his capacity for reasoning and speech communication. Remarkable are his achievements which have led him to catapult from stone age to the nuclear age and space age. Man has emerged as a violent species. The violence is adding to his pain, misery and travails, which are symptoms of the disease of fear, greed, hatred and other psychological imbalances. The socio-economic-political systems, the institutionalised religion, the reforms in the external world, have so far failed to transform man, because they deal with the symptoms in the external world. All efforts by social organizations and scientists have failed to resolve human crisis, as they tried to do so at ideal and intellect level. Men may improve the efficiency of destructive weapon •systems, they may invent better aeroplanes and improve communications and so on, but Wars have never solved human problems and they never will. Ours is a century dominated by science and technology. The civilisation in which we live today is the product of the discipline of the human mind known as modern science. There is a deeper realisation that all theories of natural phenomena, including the 'laws' they describe, are constructs of the human mind; properties of our conceptual map of reality, rather than of Reality itself. This is compelling scientists to explore all frames of reference of the mind-brain-body spectrum. In politics and economics, communications and culture, the old barriers are crumbling and new worldwide perspectives are emerging. These discoveries have laid foundation of a `golden age' of the mind-brain-body research, which is the beginning of a silent revolution in understanding the mind-brain-body system. This exploration is termed as 'science of life,' or 'the physics of consciousness'. We cannot afford to lose even one second as time is running out. We have to act here and now. We have to make a quantum jump from violence to nonviolence and peace, from competition and confrontation to cooperation, from mutual fear and distrust to mutual respect and trust, and so on. We need a revolution, psychological revolution through holistic education, to spiritual evolution, in which the whole human race has to participate and every man is an equal partner. What the Buddha proclaimed about the imperative need to know the mind, to shape the mind, and to liberate the mind has never been more true than in this Age of the Atom. The book explores the understanding of life directly. It explores a quantum jump from symbolic-dualistic knowledge to non-dual knowledge. It also discusses the quantum leap from violence to peace. 4 Inwardly, we are violent to thought, word and deed. Nonviolence is defined as a percept in a non-dual frame of reference. Nonviolence is the true subjective nature of thought. It arises from a perception of the wholeness. Nonviolence is the law of life, it is the truth of life. We have made a breakthrough in mind-brain research and have proposed the first model of the human psyche. Let this model be examined by world physicists, neuroscientists, physiologists, psychiatrists, social activists, educators, mystics, and so on. This is the only way to 'healing the. planet' and healing ourselves, which is called humanist technology. This dialogue regenerates mind and energises the new dimension of consciousness. It can resolve all human psychological problems and usher in an era of freedom, peace and bliss.

Preface

Man is unique due to his developed cerebral system, his capacity for reasoning and speech communication. Remarkable are his achievements which have led him to catapult from stone age to the nuclear age and space age. The recent advances in communication and super sonic travel has led to the collapse of time-space matrices, and this has reduced the globe to a 'global village' or a 'global cottage.' The trem ors of an important event happening in one part of the globe are felt throughout the 'global village' within minutes and this has a profound effect on global thinking. Man has emerged as a violent species. The violence is adding to his palm misery and travails, which are symptoms of the disease of fear, greed, hatred and other psychological imbalances. He has condi tioned his min. d-brain-body system and thus has entered a new psychic age. He has dehumanised himself and has become a psychologica wreck. Violence is a psychic disease, it is an indication of psychological immaturity. Due to the -various manifestations of the psychic dis ease, man finds himself standing at the edge of an abyss of total annihilation. The extinction of life is at the very core of man's anxiety. To resolve the crisis with a view to ensure our survival and our planet has become the legitimate concern of all people throughout the planet. The socio-economic-political systems, the institutionalised religion, the reforms in the external world, have so far failed to transform man, because they deal with the symptoms in the external world. Knowledge, intellect, ideals and concepts are sterile and cannot trans form human motivations. Every theological speculation, bureaucratic sanction, theoretical approach, reforms in the external world have so far failed to transform man, transform human motivations. The church, the religion have tried to humanize man, but they have not succeeded. • All efforts by social organizations and scientists UNESCO, Nobe laureates' Meetings, Pugwash Conferences, and so on have failed to resolve human crisis, as they tried to do so at ideal and intellect level. Men may improve the efficiency of destructive weapon systems, they may invent better aeroplanes and improve communications and so on, but wars have never solved human problems and they never will. We have been successful in postponing wars, but not to end wars. The disease is embedded in the human psyche, in the human conscious ness, so only a radical and total transformation of the human mind caring about a new psyche. Ours is a century dominated by science and technology. The civilisation in which we live today is the product of the discipline of the human mind known as modern science. Pure science, with its passion for truth and human welfare, will always remain as one of the noblest pursuit of man. The epochal discoveries in the field of science and technology in the last few decades of the twentieth century are recognition of consciousness, and interrelatedness and interpenetration of all events/processes/systems. There is a deeper realisation that all theories of natural phenomena, including the 'laws' they describe, are constructs of the human mind; properties of our conceptual map of reality, rather than of Reality itself. This is compelling scientists to explore all frames of reference of the mind-brain-body spectrum. Albert Einstein stated, "Our new idea is simple: to build a physics valid for all coordinate systems." At another occasion, he stated, "The chief motivating force behind all technical effort ought to be a supreme concern for the destiny of the human race•" Erwin Schrodinger stated, "I consider science an integrating part of our endeavour to answer the one great philosophical question which embraces all others, the one that Plotinus expressed by his belief : Who are we? And more than that: I consider this, not one of the tasks, but the task of science, the only one that really counts." It is for the first time in human history a global civilisation is being born before our very eyes due to the astounding science and technology breakthroughs over the last few decades. In politics and economics, communications and culture, the old barriers are crumbling and new worldwide perspectives are emerg-ing. We started deeper explorations on mind-brain-body systems about two decades ago. Nature unfolded her secrets as intuitive flashes and these have been penned at rational level of mind. We also checked and rechecked the validity of these truths.
