About the Author

Dr. Anjna Malhotra is an Assistant Professor in Shanti Devi Arya Mahila College, Dinanagar (Punjab). She has teaching experience of more than 12 years. She is the Director of Dr. Ambedkar Study Centre since 2010.
She has many published articles in National and International Journals. She has presided and organized many National Conferences and Seminars. She has also presented many research papers in National and International Conferences.

The inspiration from their hard struggle instils confidence in the modern generation and give them hope that difficult circumstances can be surmounted if determined mind and heart put dedicated efforts. The fight against injustice prevalent in the time of B.R. Ambedkar was tough but injustice had to succumb before Ambedkar's resolution not to tolerate injustice in any form. Dr. Ambedkar struggle started with his birth as he had taken birth in a Dalit family and continued for a very long time but he had proved himself and became Chairman of Constituent Assembly of Independent India.
This book is the reflection of great works done by this magnificent personality. The book is divided into thirteen chapters. Each chapter is an effort to highlight the different aspect of this superb man. The effort of every contributor is to relate and evaluate Dr. Ambedkar's view in modern situation and circumstances as we know that till today although the nature and shape has been changed but still social injustice is prevalent in India.
Chapter 1 entitled Empowerment of Depressed Classes and Dr. Ambedkar deals with Dr. Ambedkar endeavour to empower Depressed Classes. It explains that Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar was a scholar as well as a man of action. Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was a leader, an intellectual, an economist, father of Constitution of India, educationist and a great social thinker. The life of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar was marked by struggles but he proved that every impediment in life can be overcome with talent and firm determination. Through his commitment he exhibits that education can change life of the individual in general and society in particular. He was an ardent patriot. He fought for the upliftment of the poor and downtrodden. He was the saviour of the oppressed, women and poor. He fought for them throughout his life.
He turned into one of the most prominent political figures of the time. At a Depressed Classes Conference on August 8, 1930, Ambedkar outlined his political vision, insisting that the safety of the Depressed Classes hinged on their being independent from the Government and the Congress. His extraordinary knowledge and approach compelled Dr. Rajendra Prasad, President of the Constituent Assembly to request Mr. B.G. Kher, the then Prime Minister of Bombay to elect Dr. Ambedkar immediately.
