Book Description
Imaging the Other captures the fragile trajectories of the experiences of men and women. On this side you have seven unforgettable stories by writers Asha Bage, Binapani Mohanty, Githa Hariharan, Indira Goswami, Lakshmi Kannan, Mannu Bhandari and Phul Goswami, who turn their intuitive talent to create striking men protagonists. Their stories prove that good writers, men or women, experience intensely and reveal, each in their own fashion, a compelling human spirit. Flip over and give yourself a happy surprise - discover the "other half" of this two-in-one anthology.
First section is edited by Sara Rai. She lives in Allahabad and manages the Munshi Premchand Memorial School alongside writing and translation activities. She has edited an anthology of translations, The Golden Waist Chain and Other Stories. She received the award in the Urdu section of the first All India Translation Contest in 1994, organized by Katha in association with the British Council Division.
Second section is edited by GJV Prasad. He is a novelist, poet, critic and translator. He discusses literature and life at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He has published a novel, A Clean Breast, and a collection of poems, In Delhi Without a Visa. He has won the Katha Award as a co-translator in the Tamil section in 1997.
