These are some advertisement slogans spread vigorously throughout the length and breadth of the country by our government, for propagating family planning.
Earlier the most advertised slogan was,

"Next child not now and
No more than three" But now the emphasis is on "one child per family", as the norm.
Television and Radio often publicize what the birth control methods are and how the various family planning contraptions are to be used.
Abortion has become accepted in society. It is no longer considered a sin and government gives incentives 4 The Merciful Sri Garbharakshambikai for undergoing the family planning operation. The government vends birth control devices at less than their production cost.
These are all for the welfare of the nation - to control the burgeoning population and have to be accepted for all practical purposes.
But, what steps is the government taking for couples who are barren even after many years of marriage? What medical tests are made available to such couple longing for a single child? What counselling is extended to these hapless ones?
