Book Description
Foreword
While it is axiomatic that a well body needs no treatment, few of us are completely well. The most common cause of “unwellness” is diet. More specifically, the real cause of our lack of wellness is the “recommended” diet advocated by most nutritionists of today.
There is no doubt about the efficacy of the “standard American diet.” As our western dietary customs spread throughout the world, our western “unwellness” spreads also. The cardiovascular problems of the people of Scandinavia, Japan, and other areas and countries are increasing to a point that rivals our own. Other health problems, such as increased bacterial and viral diseases, have also increased as our high- fat and high-protein diet spreads. Efficacy of diet then becomes causality: diet is more than effective for health; it can cause wellness or unwellness. High stress, high fat intake, high life, and high protein foods all contribute to our “unwellness.”
Dr. Morter deals well with the subject of unwellness. At first glance, the premises he advocates may seem unorthodox. However, as his explanations progress through- out the book, his entire treatise becomes captivating. The ideas presented are simple and easy to accept. What You Eat Today does a commendable job of simplifying the very difficult concept that the body has an innate ability to keep itself in tune via “proper” nutrition. We may, in this book, finally have a health choice definition for the word “proper” in regard to nutrition. Well done, Dr. Morter.
