I am propagating Ayurveda all over the world and there is demand for such book from my patients and students. I have tried to make this book user friendly for Ayurvedic lovers and I hope that like my last book Ayurvedic Nutrition and Cooking, readers will welcome this book also.

At present she is Vice-Chairman of International Academy of Ayurveda in Pune, India. The main aim of the IAA is propagation of Ayurveda and during the last 33 years she has visited all the five Continents and 68 Countries for the propagation of Ayurveda. This non-stop service of Ayurveda for the last 3 decades is probably unique in India. She has visited many Universities and Institutions all over the world and has given consultations to thousands of Women and Children. She has written hundreds of scientific articles which have been published not only in India, but also in News Papers and Health Magazines of USA, Italy and Germany. She is also the author of several text books on Ayurveda and these have been published in Marathi, English and Spanish languages. For her untiring work of Ayurveda promotion, she has received many National and International Awards in India and USA.
I am glad to present this book on womem's health and disease and baby care to the readers. Ancient Ayurvedic texts like Kashyapa, Charaka, Sushruta and Vagbhata have given lot of information about these topics.
I have gathered all the relevant information about these topics from these texts and have also updated the same according to the current situation.
The book has been divided in four parts. The first part deals with fundamental principles of Ayurveda, including anatomy, physiology of female reproductive system and daily routine for women. The second part explains pregnancy, monthwise regimen for pregnant women, diseases after pregnancy and baby care. The third part explains various diseases of women and their treatment. Nowadays, we also find many new diseases that have not been described in ancient texts of Ayurveda. However we can treat all these diseases and make the life of working women better and happier. Reader may find new terminology and many new names of herbs; the fourth part explains all these details.
Women have started to work in all the fields from engineering to aviation and that has changed their lifestyle, food habits, social contacts and behavior also. All working women are facing lot of stress and strain in their job and the feeling of insecurity has also increased. From extended families the trend is now towards nuclear family pattern. Over time, the traditional structure has had to adapt to very influential changes, including divorce and the introduction of single-parent families, teenage pregnancy and unwed mothers, and increased interest in adoption. Therefore the trends to achieve health have changed.
Since last 31 years, I am travelling all over the world to give lectures on these subjects. So far I have visited 66 countries in all the five continents of the world. There was demand from my students and patients from Europe, South and North America and other countries to write the book that will explain all the principels about the health and diseases of Women and baby care. I hope that I will be able to fulfil their demand.
My husband, Dr. Subhash Ranade, has given me constant encouragement for writing this book. He has given me many valuable suggestions, for which I am thankful to him.
Institutions all over the world have done lot of research on herbs, minerals and metals that are used in Ayurvedic medicine. I am thankful to Mr. Lothar Pirc, CEO of Maharishi Ayurveda, Bad Ems, Germany, for providing me the data of cancer research on TM and other Maharishi Ayurveda products.
I have taken care to include the brief information of this research and other research work on various herbs in my book.
Reader may find lot of new technical words, herbs and different medicinal compounds. To find their correct meaning, I have added Glossary of terms and botanical names of the herbs at the end of the book.
