"Sraddhavan Labhate Jnanam", says the sermon of the Lord, Bhagavad-Gita. It means that they alone get knowledge, who have devotion to it. Acquiring knowledge these days is not as difficult as it appears to be. Those who said "Satyam, Jnanam, Anantam Brahma" also said "Anando Brahma". Such knowledge and wisdom is as easy as the ABC, and believe it or not, its learning is fun. Pancha Tantra is nothing but an attempt to bestow wisdom through fables, on the princes who had no love for formal education. Similarly, nowadays, where there is a race against the clock, the essence of wisdom of life should be taught without making the student bored. This book is such a humble attempt to touch the hearts of the readers. The speciality of this book is to tell known facts in a way that creates interest to read them again and again. Our special thanks are due to Dakoju Siva Prasad who drew wonderful sketches with great ease and gave life to the book. We will consider our efforts fulfilled, if they can provoke even the slightest thought in the reader! We hope that in our life struggles, this book would serve as an inspiring wisdom compass.

In the past, students were educated in the Gurukula, the hermitage of the preceptor. There, the students were trained in culture and self-purification (Samskaras) along with formal education. They would nurture their intellect and imbibe values of culture and tradition as well. This Vivek is such a pure and sincere student, who earned true wisdom, while serving the preceptor with devotion. He understood the essential teachings of famous philosophers and trend-setters. This young Brahmachari Vivek is calling us to partake of that knowledge and be happy both here and hereafter. In the process of sharing his knowledge and wisdom, he performs many roles; amuses us to laugh; remonstrates with us for our faults; aims the arrows of satire and teaches.. how we should and should not be. At the same time, he gives us many valuable suggestions that we can never forget. All his points are nothing but the splendid sayings of great philosophers like Buddha, Swami Vivekananda, Aristotle, Cicero, Emerson, Goethe; Intellectuals like George Bernard Shaw, Mark Twain, Benjamin Franklin, Winston Churchill, Abraham Lincoln etc., who spoke these wonderful precepts on various occasions. Those who read them would definitely have a clear vision of human life. They act as powerful mantras for those who read them repeatedly. They help the mind blossom and make it powerful. That's why, these are certainly the hymns of human excellence. They enhance the intellect and expand the spirit of the heart, as Swami Vivekananda wanted. They act upon us in their own way and help us transform into 'complete personalities'. Then why delay?
