About the Book Atavika is the felicitation volume on Dr. Baba Mishra, well known historian and archaeologist who retired on May 2019 after more than three decades of Teaching and Research career in the Govt. College Autonomous (Now Kalahandi University) during which, he proved his mettle as teacher, researcher, research supervisor, organiser, explorer, excavator, interpreter and administrator. His Curriculum Vitae appended with the volume substantiate it.

Tel river valley material remains indeed stands for the 'Forest Civilization' of mankind. Atavikas, the forest people who had build civilization and culture of high order on the basin of the Tel and the Indravati during the 4/3" cent, BCE to the 5 century CE. Dr. Mishra.s untiring research on it cannot be ignored.

Book consists of two volumes having 31 chapters. Volume 1, contain 13 chapters, while volume 2, bears 18 chapters. It consists of articles contributed by senior and junior archaeologists and historians of India and from abroad The volume is categorized into pre, proto ancient, medieval, and modern History as per the topics.

About the Authors Dr. Prasanna Kumar Dandasena M. A, Ph. D (b.1955) began his career as a Lecturer in history in 1981. He has served in different leading colleges of Odisha. He has a brilliant academic record and administrative skills and a distinguished scholar of history. He has attended a number of National and State level seminars and published several research articles in reputed books and Journals. He has completed one UGC Minor Research Project. He has obtained Ph.D. from Berhampur University, Odisha in the topic "Judicial Administration in South Orissa Under the British Raj" (1858-1936). He has retired as Associate Professor in History, Government Autonomous College, Bhawanipatna on 31.12.2013.

Dr. Gitanjali Routa M. A, M. Phil, Ph. D (b. 1973) (Completed M.A from Berhampur University (1995), M.Phil and Ph.D from Sambalpur University. (2012 & 2020) At present, the author is serving as Guest Lecturer in the Dept. of History, Archacology & Muscology of Govt. College Autonomous, Bhawanipatna (Now Kalahandi University). She has Presented research findings in a good deal of national and state seminars, annual sessions and conferences on History, culture and archaeology during the preceding years. Her research papers have been published in peer review journals, edited volumes and proceedings. A monograph entitled "Political History of Early Medieval Kalahandi State" From 6th century A.D. to 13th century A.D. B.R. Publishing Corporation, New Delhi has also been published in 2022. That she is also the co author of Nagavamsa Charita of Kalahandi (Odia) to be released.
