By common belief and experience, communication is the exchange of facts, ideas, opinions, messages, or emotions by two or more persons. In a way, it is a phenomenon that is general in nature as we spend nearly 70% of our waking hours communicating things through four prominent modes-writing, speaking, listening, and reading Communication is important not only in personal and social context, but also in organizational perspective. If an individual needs to communicate with various types of people in his life and I society, an organization has to have a communication system for the smooth functioning. As the society has become more complex the need for the passage of time, effective communication is being recognized all over the world. Things are rather more demanding and compulsive in the context of corporate world where exchange of information or message is possible only through effective professional and business communication that serves, as George R. Terry rightly puts it, as the lubricant postering for the smooth operations of the management process People relating to business world have come to agree to the common observation that the foremost management problem today is the problem of communication. If we try to find out the reason of this problem, we can easily identify it. The reason of the problem lies in the absence of the element of effectiveness in all the relevant areas of communication.

That's why people inside and outside their workplace, often say, "our basic problem around here is communication", or "I just can't seem to communicate with anyone in that department." Preface

This will not be an exaggeration to comment that the modern age is an age of communication and information. By common belief and experience, communication is the exchange of facts, ideas, opinions, messages, or emotions by two or more persons. In a way, it is a phenomenon that is general in nature as we spend nearly 70% of our waking hours communicating things through four prominent modes-writing, speaking, listening, and reading. Communication is important not only in personal and social context, but also in organizational perspective. If an individual needs to communicate with various types of people in his life and society, an organization has to have a communication system for the smooth functioning. As the society has become more complex with the passage of time, the need for effective communication is being recognized all over the world. Things are rather more demanding and compulsive in the context of corporate world where exchange of information or message is possible only through effective professional and business communication that serves, as George R. Terry rightly puts it, "as the lubricant postering for the smooth operations of the management process." People relating to business world have come to agree to the common observation that the foremost management problem today is the problem of communication. If we try to find out the reason of this problem, we can easily identify it. The reason of the problem lies in the absence of the element of effectiveness in all the relevant areas of communication.

That's why people inside and outside their workplace, often say, "our basic problem around here is communication", or "I just can't seem to communicate with anyone in that department." Communication, whether effective or not, takes place constantly in any organization, or in any personal or social group. A process as continuous as the circulatory system in the human body, communication is inseparable from and essential to everything that occurs in personal and organizational life.

This study emphatically underlies the fact that in corporate world, the need of mastering the art of effective communication is the success mantra. In the absence of this art of effective communication, executives, professionals, managers and the people of this sort are marginalized. Inspire of all qualities, they don't get the desired results without effective business communication skills.
