Book Description
On this topic author's cyclopedic work of interchanging Gregorian and Hijrah dates from 120 BH to 2010 AH (506 AD to 2571 AD) has already published under the title of A Compendium of Muslim and Christian Dates. But in the present title author has specifically compiled the Julian Era dates. from 564 AD to 1582 AD (60 BH to 990 AH) and the Gregorian Era dates from 1583 AD (991 AH) onwards. This work consists of four chapters in all.
Chapter-1 is exclusively devoted to the delineating the inadequacy of the extant conversion tables; adoption of the new style dates; interchanging of the old and new style dates and the Muslim day and the Christian day.
Chapter-II is concerned with interchanging of the Hijrah and Christian dates from 564 AD (60 BH) onwards. Chapter III deals with the formulas to calculate the Julian or the Gregorian date of the first day of any lunar month from 564 AD (60 BH) onwards. Chapter IV is exclusively for interchanging of the old and new style dates.
This handbook of interchanging Muslim and Christian Era dates has been prepared after considerable study and labour with the hope that it will be useful to students and scholars as well as laymen alike.
The author's most favorite topic is the study of the dates, weather and climatic conditions prevailing at the time of the Hijrah (Emigration) and some other important Ghazwat. Also their synchronism in relation to the Christian Era dates.
The author is of the view that the corresponding Christian dates do not synchronizes with the weather and climatic conditions which prevailed at the time of the Ghazwat (Expeditions) of the prophet Muhammad. This wrong synchronism of the Christian date prompted the author to work on this topic. The author has been engaged in this work since 1984 and divided the whole study. into three phases: Phase-I The Study of the various calendrical systems Phase-II The Study of the synchronizing of Phase-III The Study of the Islamic events in the Muslim and Christian dates relation to the dates, time and prevailing weather conditions and their synchronism in Chriastian dates. The first two phases of the study have been completed and published in three volumes under the titles of The compendium of the Calendars; The Compendium of the Muslim and Christian Dates and Interchanging Muslim and Christian Era Dates. Professor M.M. Jinnah (b.1959-) has obtained P.H.D. Degree from Kuman University, Nainital in 1984. Currently he is teaching as professor in the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, Kuman University, S.S.J. Campus, Almora.
