Management and Class of Preachers of Indian& Foreign Gurdwaras

About the Book The Book 'Des videsh de Gurdwarian da parbandhki dhancha atey parchark shraini was published in Punjabi by Respected Giani Sant Singh ji 'Maskeen' in 2001 when he was alive. I think the English addition of this book will also be advantageous to English knowing Gursikhs residing in India and abroad who are participating in the Gurudwaras managements and will also encourage the second generation Gursikhs who have been born and brought up and settled in their adopted countries. The present management structure, based upon political and vested interests, is not at all suitable for preaching Gurmat. Therefore the only object is that the readers may be able to bring up enterprising reformers and preachers. It is prayed that Satguru ji may grant His limitless Divine power to the reformation movement.

Foreword During the forty years of my preaching life, whatever I have observed and understood in connection with the man- argument and preaching, I have tried to put in writing in this book. This management structure, based upon political and vested interests, is not at all suitable for preaching Gurmat. This directionless preaching structure going on by keeping the main aim of only livelihood in front. is unsuccessful in connection with the preaching. The majority of the congregation is divided into small religious factions and some are entangled in individual gurus. Some intelligent well-wishers of Gurmat perceive this a sick structure, but they are incapable to understand the proper treatment and are also not diligent to find out the treatment. For the first time I am humbly trying to place before the congregation all the facts in writing so that by adopting the written solution, some en- couraging structure may be prepared so that this sick structure may be made alright.

I have got no personal animosity in this connection with any one. This book has been written by keeping in mind only religious and national compassion. The only object is that the readers may be able to bring up enterprising reformers and preachers. It is prayed that Satguru ji may grant His limitless Divine power to the reformation movement. Giani Balwinder Singh ji, (of Vancouvour) has made a lot of efforts to improve and re-write the whole book in Punjabi, which is praiseworthy.

The wise say never consider an illness and an enemy as weak. Delay and carelessness can make the enemy pow- erful and the illness incurable, Even otherwise it has already been delayed very much, but I feel that it is not incurable.

Preface Giani Sant Singh 'Maskeen' is the top most intellectual of Panth (Sikh Religion). He has generated such a resonance of Gur Shabad in India and foreign countries through his discourses and exegesis of Gurbani as many persons, gone astray, have understood the right path and have taken ref- uge at the feet of Guru ji Gurbani dwells in 'Maskeen ji's' heart and tongue. Whenever he narrates sweet views about Gur-Shabad in the holy congregation, then the congregation becomes spell-bound, watches stop and the feet of travel- lers come to halt.

'Maskeen ji' has not only narrated religious discourses in the religious congregations, but also he is preaching Gurbani through his unique Gurmat writings. A lot of books written by him have already been published. The book in hand contains the sum and substance of his experiences in connection with Gurmat preaching.

It is a fact that Gurmat is not being discussed in the Gurdwaras and politics is going on. The preachers and the religious singers are also entangled in the whirlpool of money. After observing the state of degeneration on all sides it is but natural for compassionate person like 'Maskeen ji' to be ap- prehensive. He has given the details of these degenerating conditions on the basis of his personal experiences and he has invited the spiritualists and meditators of God's Name to participate in the management of the Gurdwaras.

May Satguru ji be gracious so that the practical task of Gurmat preaching may commence according to the wishes of Maskeen ji. This is my supplication.
