Foreword

As per Indian history is concerned, the Mughal history is an interesting and pride of the Medieval India. As the great rulers, Babur as founder. Akbar as a great Builder and Monarch, Jahangir as a great lover of society and justice, Shahjahan as a great lover of Architecture and Aurangzeb as a unique ruler of the Hindu and Muslim subject as a part of empire.

The Indian Mughals were the fulfilment of the best and the worst instincts of their forbears. By a prophetic instinct the followers of Timuer as well as Babur had felt that settlement in India would mean deterioration of their character as warriors and conquerors. Their worst fears were fulfilled though gradually and imperceptibly, in the course of over two centuries. This may not be attributed entirely to the enervating influence of the Indian climate. The deterioration of the Mughals must, therefore, be attributed to other causes.
