Book Description

About the Book
Chanakya (350-273 BCE) was a scholar and administrator par excellence. He was a great Indian teacher, philosopher, statesman, royal adviser, economist and jurist. Alternatively known as Kautilya or Vishnugupta, he penned the ancient Indian political treatise, the Arthashastra. He is said to be the pioneer of economics and political science in India.

A Brahmin, originally hailing from Northern India, he was also a professor of political science and economics at the University of Takshashila. A past master of Vedas and ancient Indian literature, he is believed to have had some knowledge of Zoroastrianism as well. Chanakya was as shrewd as he was wise. He helped the first Mauryan Emperor, Chandragupta, to establish the Mauryan Empire. He also served as chief advisor and prime minister to both Chandragupta and his son, Bindusara. His immense works were lost towards the end of the Gupta Empire and were rediscovered only in the early 20th Century.

Through seven chapters, this book describes Chanakya as master of administration, his Life, thoughts & knowledge, His accomplishment with multifaceted talent, his Firmness, Niti & Kautilya's Arthashatra, Commentary on women, his Steadfast activities and finally his Journey and salvation.

Preface
Chanakya did not write anything in his younger days. It was not in tradition then. Only after stepping down from the position of a minister did Chanakya begin writing in the fourth phase of his life. He wrote on the science of politics, the principles of politics and the science of economy. He wrote a lot, he wrote for all and he wrote very well.

This book contains Chanakya's life, important incidents of his life, his achievements and his thoughts on leading a comfortable, accomplished and happy life.

It is left to the readers' level of interest on how they learn it, assimilate its thoughts and use it dedicatedly. Their acquisition of this knowledge will be revealed only when they apply it and use it in an enlightened manner.

For the all round development, complete prosperity and unequalled joy of everyone, May good fortune be bestowed on all!
