Book Description

About the Book

In the book Caitanya-mangala, by Srila locan Dasa Thakur, it is recorded that Narada Muni, while visiting the spiritual world, came upon Lord Gauranga. The Lord told him of his mission to destroy the sinful activities of the Age of Kali. “With the powerful chopper of nama-sankirtana.” He said. “I’ll cut the hard knots of demoniac desires from the hearts of everyone. Even if the sinners reject religion or flee to foreign countries still they will get My mercy. I will send mor senapati-bhakta to go there and deliver them.”

Mor senapati-bhakta refers to that commanding acarya who will be empowered by Lord Caitanya to lead His sankirtana movement. That acarya whom Lord Caitanva referred to, is Srila Prabhupada, who is destined to spread Krishna consciousness all over the world.

Introduction

The living entity is consistently wandering in so many species in this universe from time immemorial. He is taking shelter of other organisms for want of happiness and peace but actually he has forgotten his real shelter. But the fact is, unless he does not leave apart the desire to enjoy the material world completely and take the shelter of Krishna, the son of Nanda Maharaja he will certainly keep on suffering with the miseries of this unconquerable material world.

The conditioned souls have forgotten their loving relationship with the Supreme Personality of Godhead and they are very much engrossed in enjoying the material energy of the Lord. To divert the le attention of the conditioned souls from the material entanglement, Krishna Dvapayana Srila Vyasa Dev has given plenty of Vedic literatures. the same line of succession and following the same glorious tradition, t of our previous acharyas have also given the illustrated scriptures us so that conditioned souls can take advantage from these pious and thentic sources by reading them.

Srila Prabhupada said, “The divine vision in this connection should be clearly understood and who can have the divine vision? Divine means Godly. Unless one attains the status of divinity as a demigod, he cannot have the divine vision. Who is a demigod? It is Stated in the Vedic scriptures that those who are devotees of Lord Visnu emigods. Those who are atheistic, i.e., who do not believe in Visnu, who only recognize the impersonal part of Krsna as the Supreme, l have the divine vision. It is not possible to decry Krsna and at the same time have the divine vision. One cannot have the divine vision without becoming divine or a pure devotee of Krsna. In other words, those who have divine vision can also see like Arjuna (BG 11.48)”.

Also Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur says, “If we proudly think we are great, we cannot become humble. Even though we are servants, we would prefer to be masters. As a result, we would bring about our own ruination because we would come to see everything as fit for our enjoyment rather than for Krsna’s enjoyment. When we wear blue spectacles everything appears blue; by seeing everything in relation to Guru and Krsna, we come to see everything through divine vision. Everything will rightly appear worshipable. This universe is full of objects for the service of the master of this universe. Therefore, all objects are worshipable. If we are endowed with spiritual vision, we can easily see Krsna.”

These scriptures are our mother because they reveal about our real father, who is the real shelter for all conditioned souls. The Supreme truth can only be perceived through the eyes of knowledge, which is being given to us by these Holy Scriptures. By reading and subsequently understanding the scriptures in the association of devotees, we can easily develop and establish the real vision of life, which is solely divine in nature.

This book “Divine Vision from the Vedic Scriptures” is the compilation of selected lectures of Srila Gopal Krishna Goswami Maharaja, which he gave in various places of the world. He presented the subject matter in a very simplified manner so that any inquisitive or spiritual seeker whoever reads it can grasp it easily.
