Book Description

About the Book
In shaping the present volume Geomorphic Evolution of The Nunbil Basin Through Morphometric Measures, efforts have been made to apply morphometric techniques in the geomorphic analysis of the Nunbil Basin and deduce there from the suitability and significance of the techniques as well as the geomorphic evolution of the Basin as a whole.

Broadly speaking, geomorphic is the study of landfroms, their materials which make them and the processes that shape them. The discussion concentrates, therefore, on these three main aspects-materials, processes and from. There are ten chapters in all. Every chapter of this volume is document of laboratory and field work and includes various aspects of discussion to achieve the goal how the Nunbil landscape has been shaped out.

About the Author
Dr. Janardan Bhagat passed the M.A.. (Geography) Examination in 1980 from Ranchi University. He obtained his Ph.D. Degree in 2004 from Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribag. He was promoted as Reader in November, 1991. He worked as H.O.D. (Geography) from February 2006 to January, 2008. He was again appointed H.O.D. (Geography) from October, 2009.

He remained N.S.S. coordinator of University from September, 2005 to July, 2006.

He is a life member of Indian Science O Congress, National Association of Geographers in India (NAGI) and Bihar and Jharkhand Geographer's Association. He has 35 research paper published in different National Journals. He was appointed a Resource person to deliver lectures in Academic Staff College of Ranchi University and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University, Muzaffarpur.

He also acted as a Resource Person in D.S.T. Summer training Programme at U.P.A. College, Varanasi in 2007, 2008 and 2009. Three scholars have obtained Ph.D. degree under his supervision. One JRF is also working under him for Ph.D. degree.

Preface
In shaping the present volume Geomorphic Evolution of The Nunbil Basin Through Morphometric Measures, efforts have been made to apply morphometric techniques in the geomorphic analysis of the Nunbil Basin and deduce there from the suitability and significance of the techniques as well as the geomorphic evolution of the Basin as a whole.

Broadly speaking, geomorphic is the study of landfroms, their materials which make them and the processes that shape them. The discussion concentrates, therefore, on these three main aspects- materials, processes and froms. There are ten chapters in all. Every chapter of this volume is document of laboratory and field work and includes various aspects of discussion to achieve the goal how the Nunbil landscape has been shaped out.

The First Chapter depicts why, where and how the plan of study has been set up. A critical study of the previous literature related to the area has also been made in this chapter.

The study of the material and their structural characteristics has been necessitated in the context of the geomorphic evolution of the Nunbil Basin, because these are the fundamental elements which play important role in the origin and development of the landforms. Chapter Two therefore, deals with the materials of the study area with reference to age, structural characteristics of the constituent rocks, igneous activities, folds, faults, joints and soil stratigraphy.

The central theme of this discussion is to understand temporal and spatial variation in geomorphic processes and the resulting pattern of froms in the Basin. It is emphasized because landforms embody the effects of both the contemporary and past geomorphic processes.
