Book Description

Preface

I bow to Maha Ganapathy and I feel excited and extremely happy to say that have fulfiled the yearning and burning desire of my beloved father Sri S.V. Viswanathan, BA, B.T. to write about the Astrology Books in Tamil. By God's grace so far 28 Astro Books have been written by me and published.

Now I have translated "Longevity" (Tamil Book) in English with the help of my son Sri. V.Prasanna my juniors Sri H. Jaikrishnan & Sri. V. Ramalingam.

I wish to honour my beloved father as he was a very learned Guru, who guided and motivated me to write about astrological books. Though he had enormous moveable and immoveable properties in abundance but lost it all due to his participation and thirst in the freedom movement as he belonged to a freedom fighter family.

According to saying that "Art is long: life is short and knowledge is power", he focused on studies and graduated early in 1945. As per the advice of former Chief Minister Shri. K. Kamaraj on 01.10.1955, he joined as the first school teacher in a Government at a village named Mithillaipatti near Karaikudi in Tamil Nadu and educated those people who were not having awareness of education.

As he was in the good books of all people, especially well acquainted with one well-known Philanthropist Shri.N.PL.CT.M. Nallakaruppan Chettiyar alias Sivalingam Chettiyar, he took initiative and efforts to build a primary school building in the name of Chettyar's first wife. As the rules did not permit the individual name to be named to the school building, my father and Chettiyar approached the then Chief Minister Shri. K Kamaraj directly and obtained permission to name the school as "Meenakshi Sivalingam District Board El-ementary School". Building for the mid-day meals was also constructed by Chettiyar from his own funds.
