Preface

Honoured I feel to have been invited to write the preface to Karuna Shri's novelette for the young readers, originally in Hindi, now in English titled Gateway to Godliness. Delighted I also feel to learn that the author is a highly revered teacher of the young and she has penned to publish more than 10 volumes already, each identified for the idealism and human values of noblest genre.

Since the original writer and the acclaimed translator have been so closely associated with furtherance of life values among the adolescents and the young, I would also love to primarily address myself in this assumed preface to the young readers of this book and their mentors who would like to see their wards blossom into educated characters of the world of modernity.

Today's school learning and teaching is oriented towards material success at all stages of life. But in all seriousness, what is the use of this life unless we as human beings and the best creation of God can reach a level of spiritual refinement to the highest pedestal within our life rather than after our deaths. No heavens can be reached unless we reach it in our own life and living.

Moksha Dwar, now translated as Gateway to Godliness, is the saga of a destitute child, Chhamiya, and his journey that starts from the cremation ground and culminates in attaining the highest level of spiri- tual prosperity, material well-being not denied in between. The story passes through many turns that may sound unrealistic.
