Of all the branches of Jyotish Muhurta Jyotish (Electional Astrology) is the most important. This is so, because no untoward or favourable event in life can be postponed or averted but by electing time for the same evilness can be minimized.
Muhurta Chintamani fascinated me since long time back when I was doing compiling cook from Jyotish classics to prepare notes for my studies. I found the book very useful as it had picked the highly pertinent principles of electional and native astrology from classics written by Sages like Narad, Vashishta, Kashyap, Parashar and more.
Therefore when I was asked to translate it into English I accepted the offer gladly. The profession of astrology burdens the practitioner with huge responsibility and he should be very careful in giving judgement and advice to his client. And before assuming such responsibility he should have learnt this divine science from learned and knowledgeable Gurus. If indulges in inappropriate practices and cheats the clients he is bound to face severe consequences. Therefore it is necessary and imperative that an astrologer should be well versed in all the branches of astrology and more so in Muhurta branch as most of the clients use astrologers for fixing date of the marriage and Match-Making.
Virtually, no perfect muhurt in all respects and free from all defects can be found. Therefore, a muhurt with minimum of defects or one with a defect whose remedial measure is affordable and reachable should be selected.
I hope my translation of the book will find favour with the students and practitioners both.
