Shri Shibshankar Chakraborty is a rare personality who did it and demonstrated to the world that a holistic development can be achieved through positive fruitful actions by motivating hundreds of youth and the middle aged in the rural Bengal and urban slums in and around Kolkata.

He has shown in Rambagan slum of North Calcutta (now known as Vivekananda Palli) how 250 years old slum can be developed economically, socially and psychologically without uprooting them from their settlements and changing their vocations unlike what has been done primarily in India and other countries.

19 Blocks of houses each with 16 two room flats - self content with bathrooms, cooking place and community work place in each block.

Practically entire financing of the Project was done through raising funds from various charitable Foundations based in Germany and through Rotary Clubs, individual donations from general public, a few business establishments. and Ex-students of the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama (A Students' Home-Pathuriaghata-Narendrapur). Finance also was procured by him.
