Introduction

Diseases of the body and mind have assumed immense proportions in today's world. No stone has been left unturned and unimaginably large sums of money have been spent in seeking a cure for the innumerable, 'incurable' afflictions which have become the bane of mankind.

After prolonged and intense research conducted in the West, medical practitioners as well as 1ay people are veering to concepts and conclusions wise people in the East have believed in for centuries - that the mind plays a prime role in preventing, causing and curing diseases of all kinds. As a result, the practice of meditation, yoga, pranic healing and the belief that the mind governs the body, have come to the fore. These are accepted by the medical profession worldwide, in the face of 'miraculous' cures being effected by them and other unconventional methods of therapy.

Where conventional treatment has failed, alternative therapy has come to the rescue and saved many a patient's life or sanity. Whilst the efficacy of modern drugs or methods of treatment cannot the ignored or denigrated, the book advocates a symbiosis of the old and the new, the East and the West, to eradicate most of the ailments that plague us in our fast-moving and stressful world.
