We repeat Krsna-Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare / Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare. Why we repeat?

The more we repeat means we learn to love. That is required. Anything which you do not love, you cannot repeat. It will be disgusting.

Anything, any word you take, if you simply repeat, you'll feel disgusted.

Sometimes those who are not in Krsna conscious life, they also feel this repetition as disgusting, hackneyed, because they have not developed love. Rūpa Gosvāmi says that "What shall I chant with one tongue and what shall I hear with two ears? If millions of tongue I would have possessed, then I could chant little."

We learn from Caitanya-caritāmrta, Antya-līlā, Chapter 1, that Śrīla Rūpa Gosvāmī Prabhu had once gone to Jagannātha Purī to meet the Supreme Lord Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu. Śrīla Rūpa then stayed with Śrīla Haridāsa Thākura and was writing a drama on Lord Krsna's pastimes. An important incident took place then, with the Lord's associates beginning with Śrīla Rāmānanda Rāya acknowledging that Śrīla Rūpa Gosvāmī was empowered by Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu to understand the Lord's teachings on some confidential topics, one of them being the spiritual sweetness of the holy name (nāma-mādhurya) as experienced by perfect pure devotees of Lord Krsna.

Here are relevant snippets of that significant event from Caitanya-caritāmsta Antya 1:

One day while Rūpa Gosvāmī was writing his book, Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu suddenly appeared. As soon as Haridāsa Thākura and Rūpa Gosvāmī saw the Lord coming, they both stood up and then fell down to offer Him their respectful obeisances. Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu embraced them both and then sat down. The Lord inquired, “What kind of book are you writing?” He held up a palm leaf that was a page of the manuscript, and when He saw the fine handwriting, His mind was very pleased. Thus being pleased, the Lord praised the writing by saying, “The handwriting of Rüpa Cosvári is just like rows of pearls.” While reading the manuscript, Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu saw a verse on that page, and as soon as He read it He was overwhelmed by ecstatic love.

tunde tāndavinī ratim vitanute tundāvali-labdhaye karna-kroda-kadambini ghatayiie karnărvudebhyah sprhan cetaḥ-prāngana-sanginī vijayate sarvendriyānāṁ krtim no jāne janitā kiyadbhir amrtaiḥ krsneti varna-dvayi

"I do not know how much nectar the two syllables ‘Krs-na' have produced. When the holy name of Krsna is chanted, it appears to dance within the mouth. We then desire many, many mouths. When that name enters the holes of the ears, we desire many millions of ears. And when the holy name dances in the courtyard of the heart, it conquers the activities of the mind, and therefore all the senses become inert.”
