Book Description

About the Book

This book reveals the path to attainment of the truth through an understanding of perennial wisdom or Tejgyan. We need to find the point of nothingness which is within each and every one of us-the source or the centre of your being. When you access this state, the wisdom that stems from it is called Tejgyan. Tejgyan is the wisdom beyond knowledge and ignorance-the source of all knowledge, a place where nothing is concealed and everything can be seen clearly, a place which leads you to inner peace. Passing through the seven stages of the supreme quest, described step by step in the book, the seeker of the ultimate truth encounters a stage which has been called 'Understanding'. This is the most important stage where one attains self-realization.

About the Author

Sirshree's spiritual quest began as a child. Immersed in his spiritual quest, he practiced many meditations. His quest led him to various schools of thought and teachings. He undertook a long period of contemplation on the mystery of life till his quest ended on enlightenment. He came to the understanding that the missing link in all paths that lead to truth is 'Understanding' itself.

Foreword

First, the world witnessed the agricultural revolution, then the industrial revolution, followed by the information revolution; the time has now come for a consciousness revolution. The emergence of a 'global consciousness' is proof of that. The ease with which seekers and non-seekers attain the experience and access the self, and understand the illusory nature of the mind through Sirshree's methods is contributing to this consciousness revolution.

This book reveals the path to attainment of the truth through an understanding of perennial wisdom or Tejgyan. We need to find the point of nothingness which is within each and every one of usthe source or the centre of your being. When you access this state, the wisdom that stems from it is called Tejgyan. Tejgyan is the wisdom beyond knowledge and ignorance-the source of all knowledge, a place where nothing is concealed and everything can be seen clearly, a place which leads you to inner peace.

Through his numerous books and discourses, Sirshree imparts Tejgyan. He guides the seeker towards experiencing the truth through an understanding which flows from Tejgyan. And understanding leads you to the final truth-you may call it self-realization or enlightenment or God-realization or by whatever name. This understanding can also be obtained through a 'system for wisdom' that is imparted in the 'Magic of Awakening' retreats organized by the Tej Gyan Foundation, an organization founded by Sirshree. The Foundation helps disseminate Tejgyan.

This book is not biased to any religion or sect. It is meant for mankind at large. Hence the stress is more on under-standing what is being said, behind the words. You will find many words that are taken from the Hindi Language.

Preface

A young painter visited a prison. While walking through the passageway of prison cells, he noticed a hideous prisoner. He thought, "If there was a devil, then this is how he would look." The awful picture of this prisoner was etched in his mind even after he returned home. He painted his picture, which to his surprise became very popular and sold well. The painter was encouraged by this success and decided to paint portraits of all kinds of faces. He began his quest for new faces every day.

After many years, a thought occurred to him, 'Why not paint a portrait that can lead the beholder to the experience of God himself Why not find eyes that would be more beautiful than child's, looking into which one would attain the experience that is beyond the mind! Is there anyone who is gifted with such beautiful eyes?' After a few months of this quest, he did find such a person with a serene face, seated on the banks of a river. When he painted his portrait, he knew it would sell as no painting had ever sold before. Eager to share his happiness, he picked up both the paintings -the latest and that of the prisoner- and approached the person on the riverbank. He said, "I felt peace only after making your portrait. Here it is." The person looked at both the paintings and was astonished. Lost in a feeling of wonder and elation, he began to dance and sing a hymn of praise.

The painter couldn't contain himself and asked, "Sir, please tell me, what's making you dance with such joy?" The person disclosed, "Both of these paintings you have made are of the same person. I was the person you'd seen in jail. Behold the divine grace that has been bestowed, for this last painting you've made also is of me." The hideous prisoner had transformed into the divine persona that the painter had sought.

So it is with every living face here. Every face is being sculpted into the immaculate face of God - the ultimate expression of divinity. Some attain it in this lifetime, while others abandon their bodies midway on their journey. However the real quest for everyone is that ultimate face alone, and this quest goes on each and every day, whether one knows it or not.

We seek this face in the form of happiness. Through everything that we think, say, or do, we are constantly seeking happiness. No one would ever say, 'Now that I am happy today, I don't want happiness tomorrow.' When this quest for happiness becomes a conscious seeking, that is when we become 'truth seekers'.

We have all been seekers from the very beginning. We probably may not have consciously known this. Though it may not be so apparent, every seeker has only one quest -for God alone. Is the quest for God possible in today's world? Is such seeking relevant in today's hectic lifestyle and the constant demand for more and more material goods. We complain of a lack of time. We are drawn into several areas of daily life that demand our attention. One may wonder whether God would reveal Himself before us in such a context. The answer is an emphatic 'Yes'. When we pull the reigns of the racing mind with Bright Understand the truth is easily revealed.
