About the Book Amirbai Karnataki (1906-1965), born in Bilagi village, Karnataka was a famous actress and playback singer of the yesteryears. Mahatma Gandhi was an ardent fan of her song vaishnava jana to tene kahiye. During 1940s, Amirbai became one of the most sought after singers.

About the Author Rahamath Tarikere is considered one of the most influential voices in Kannada literature today. Currently, he is a Professor at the Dept. of Kannada Literature Studies, Kannada University, Hampi. He is known for his extensive research and publications in the areas of Language, Literature and culture of Karnataka. He has received number of honors including the Central Sahitya Akademi award.

The Translator C.S.Sarvamangala writes on music regularly. She has interviewed many renowned musicians across the country. She has published short stories and articles in Kannada. Her major translations include stories from Vaddaradhane and a Theatre Histories Project under publication. She is a Sitar player and currently teaches sitar at Deccan International School in Bangalore.
