About the Authors K.K. Basa (born 1958), a Gold Medalist in H.S.C. Exam. (1973) in Orissa as well as B.A. (History Hons.) Exam. (1977) from Utkal University, did his M.A. in History (1979) from Delhi University and M.A. (Private) in Anthropology (1984) from Utkal University. A recipient of the Govt. of India Scholarship, he completed his Ph. D. (1991) at the famous Institute of Archaeology, University of London. He also won the Swan Hellenic Scholarship to visit archaeological sites in the Mediterranean. He went to Paris in 1997 under the Indo-French Cultural Exchange Programme. He was a Founder Member, Editorial Board for the journal Papers from the Institute of Archaeology (London) and is in the Editorial Board of South Asian Anthropologist. He has published about 35 research papers. He has attended many international conferences in Europe and Southeast Asia. He is selected for the Commonwealth Post-Doctoral Fellowship (1999-2000) at the University of Cambridge, U.K. He has been teaching in the Anthropology Department, Utkal University since 1980.
P. Mohanty (born 1959) is a Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Archaeology, Deccan College Post Graduate and Research Institute (Deemed University), Pune. He did both his M.A. (1981) and Ph. D. (1989) from the Deccan College. He has published more than 65 papers, both research and popular, in national and international journals and magazines. He has attended many national and international conferences.
