The essays appearing here are collected and edited from the proceedings of an International conference (RCIM 2007) at Agra organised by Kriti Kala Sansthan to celebrate the birth centenary of Late Alain Danielou (Annexure-2).
The theme of the conference was 'Research and its consequences on Indian Music' and the objective of the conference had been to encourage discussion in the field of music to provide new ideas and directions in the research in music. In this conference, a great amount of enthasiasm was noticed in the Scholars, faculty members and experts. This eveident from the numbers of research papers (Seventy) which were submitted for this conference and the screening committee had a toughtime in scrutinizing them. In all 55 papers were selected for presentation. However in the present volume the reder will find only 34 research papers. Many constrains are responsible for this, the main being finencial. Then is the idea behind the publication of these papers in a book form. But due to the huge expenditure on the shoulder of the organizing committee, we have forced to restrict the number of published paper to 34 only. We will try our best to publish the remaining papers in the future edition of this book.
It is hoped that this edition will, in its own modest way, contribute towards a greater understanding of research in music and perhaps even lead to attempt at reviving some of the unknown treaures of Indian Music.
