Book Description
Tamil Nadu has rich cultural heritage including folklore rooted to traditional values and beliefs. The present book is an attempt to record this treasure-trove of the state in a lucid style and is, thus, a veritable document on its rural populace - their songs, dramas, dances, social and religious customs, oral literature etc. The Tamil edition of the book, translated by the author himself, was awarded by the Tamil Nadu government.
S. M. L. Lakshmanan Chettiar has been one of the leading writers of travelogue in the Tamil language, with one on Australia being awarded by the Tamil Academy. He authored a number of Encyclopaedias on different districts of the state. A graduate of the Presidency College, Chennai, he took a diploma in journalism, and has authored and edited a number of articles and publications in the English language.
