Book Description
Mir Ghulam Rasool Nazki (1910-1998) was a distinguished poet and scholar of Kashmiri, Urdu, Persian and Arabic languages. He used to write in all the four languages with equal ease. Besides being a poet, he was also a translator and broadcaster. He was an outstanding scholar of history and culture of Kashmir. His poetry became very popular among the masses. This insightful and fascinating monograph contains basic information about Mir Ghulam Rasool Nazki and his academic and literary contribution.
Aziz Hajini (1957-2021) was a famous poet, critic, translator, administrator and social activist. He had fourteen published books to his credit. He served as the Secretary of the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages. Hajini also served in the prestigious institutions like Markaz-e-Noor (University of Kashmir), Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education and Directorate of School Education. He was also the President of Adbi Markaz Kamraz and Convener of the Kashmiri Advisory Board of Sahitya Akademi. His literary awards include the Sahitya Akademi Award and the Sahitya Akademi Prize for Translation, besides many others.
I consider is privilege standing or hum Rasool Nazki, an outstanding and distinguished poet, translator and broadcaster. Nazki was a polyglot and wrote with equal case in Kashmiri, Urdu, Persian and Arabic languages. This monograph contains basic information about his personality and literary contribution. Monographs are written with an aim to provide basic and fundamental information to the common masses about renowned and prominent literary and academic figures, in simple and familiar language. They are not meant for complex intellectual and critical discourses; critics and scholars pen down voluminous books in that regard. Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi has been publishing monographs on famous academic and literary personalities for the past several years; the present monograph is a continuation of the same process. The rules of the Akademi require a monograph to be sixty to eighty pages. While writing this monograph, I had to abide by the rule, otherwise keeping in view the multidimensional personality of Mir Ghulam Rasool Nazki and his vast literary contributions, it was extremely difficult to cover his personality in these few pages. Not withstanding this limitation, an attempt has been made to provide fundamental information to the common readers about the important dimensions of his personality. It is hoped that the monograph will duly serve its purpose.
