Sanskrit has immensely contributed to the emerging new International Culture in our age and the modern global perspective. However, Sanskrit studies are suffering from a stagnation and the adverse effect of the 'Orientalia' which knowingly or unknowingly, functioned under the impact of and catered to the interests of the colonialism. It is high time now that the scholars of Sanskrit put up a join t effort to free their vidya from several misconnects and misinterpretations. I am happy to note that some of the papers included in this volume reveal a genuine concern and a positive approach in this direction.

About the Author Dr. Radha Vallabha Tripathi is at present working as Professor and Head of the Department of Sanskrit, Dr. Hari Singh Gour University of Sagar. He has published 107 research papers and 68 books, and has completed a number of research projects. He specializes in Natyasastra and Sahityasastra.

He has been editing three Research Journals - Nat yam (Hindi Only.), Sagarika (Sanskrit Only.) and Mahabharata (Bilingual, Biannual). Dr. Tripathi has received 15 awards, mostly of national level, including Mm. P.V. Kane Memorial Gold Medal of Asiatic Society, Bombay (for Best Research Work of 1995) and the Sahitya Akademi Award of 1994 for creative writing in Sanskrit.
