Book Description
Abburi Ramakrishna Rau (1896-1979) a pioneer in modern Telugu literature, was a multi-faceted personality who had left his distinctive imprint on a generation of creative writers, actors, politicians and trade unionists. He commanded universal respect as a poet, playwright, producer, director of plays, critic, fiction writer and great scholar. There was a freshness in his themes and techniques. There is hardly a political, literary, cultural or theatre movement in India in which he did not play an important role. He was not just a poet, but a teacher of poets. Therein lies secure his title to be a maker of literature.
Dr. E. Nageswara Rao taught the twin disciplines of literature and linguistics for over four decades at several Indian and North American Universities, and retired as Professor at Osmania University, Hyderabad. He has been engaged in research and authored books on Bernard Shaw, Ernest Hemingway, English Language Teaching and Criticism. He has travelled widely in the United States, Canada, Europe and South-East Asia.
