Book Description
The Encyclopaedic Dictionary of Indian Culture is compilation of technical terms related to the ancient geography, religion, archaeology, architecture, astrology, epigraphy, linguistics, literature, mythology, philosophy and history etc., which have been collected from various canonical texts and standerd modern works.
Dr. Narendra Kumar Dash obstained his Master Degree in Sanskrit from Visva Bharti, Santiniketan in 1984. He worked for his Doctoral thesis as a U.G.C. (NET) Fellow and awarded Ph. D. Degree by the said University in 1990.
Dr.Dash, basically a Sanskrit scholar, but has sound knowledge of Assamese, Bengali, Hindi, Gujarati, Oriya and Tibetan languages.
Indian Culture comprises mainly the culture of the Hindus, Jainas and the Buddhists. To study this culture properly, we need to have a first hand knowledge of these three components. The need for a new Dictionary of Indian Culture, that would meet the requirements of those scholars, students and general readers who are interested in Indian Culture has long been recognized. This long felt void has inspired me to compose this treatise, which I hope, will meet the requirements of one and all.
