About the Book This book explores the origin, history and gradual development of the making of an Indian Orchestra i.e. Vadya-Vrinda. It attempts to trace the path traversed by the Vadya-Vrinda in context to the different sociological, religious and cultural influences in different periods of music history. It deals with some important aspects of musicology such as melody, harmony, rhythm, musical instruments etc. in a systematic manner, which play a pivotal role in the making of a Vadya Vrinda.

About the Author Dr. Pritam Kaur is a Senior Lecturer for Instrumental Music in Government College for Women at Ludhiana in Punjab. She did her doctorate from Delhi University. Besides doing extensive research work in the field of orchestra, she is associated with various organizations and institutions to promote art and culture among children and youth by experimenting music education through theatre, ballet and choreography.
