Book Description
This original text of Laghusiddhantakaumudi by sri Varadaraja is based on Paninian grammar which is universally appreciated and has an age long tradition behind it. The writer has done an excellent job by presenting its exposition by using a very simple, lucid and easy to understand language along with distinctive illustrations. He has tried to reveal the mysteries of Paninian aphorisims and elaborately deals with intricacies therein by useful explanations along with suitable examples.
The object of this part is to provide simple introduction to the fundamentals of Sanskrit Grammar for the beginners as well as esteemed readers. Sanskrit Grammar has had a vast and varied development which can not be treated adequately in a brief work like this. The second part of the Laghusiddhantakaumudi is going to be completed shortly so as to provide the students a bird’s eye view and prepare them for more intensive study on the Sanskrit Grammar.
Laghusiddhantakaumudi has been prescribed as a text book at the Graduate and Post Graduate levels by different Universities. Such an edition was necessary for the Sanskrit learning students at their initial stage. This book will be like a preliminary stepping stone towards the study of higher texts like Siddhantakaumudi.

I had a very pleasant experience to go through the entire book consisting of Sajna, Paribhasa, Sandhi, Karaka, Samasa and Stri-pratyaya. The presentation of Paribhasika-sabdaprakaranam (the chapter on technical terminology in sanskrit Grammar) along with their original sources will be undoubtedly, helpful to a beginner. Dr. Dora is praise- worthy for bringing out such a rare edition of the text and I hope this will be highly appreciated by the readers.
I wish the book all success.
