Book Description
Dr. Alka Mishra had been working as Senior Research Associate with G. N. Research Institute, Birmingham (England). At present, she is teaching history to post graduate classes in S.S.M. Mahavidyala Bareilly.
Dr Alka Mishra has already published a book on "Non- Sikhs in Sikh History" in which she had narrated brief history and role of more than 350 persons associated with the history of the Sikhs. This book "Eminent Women in Sikh History" narrates the lives and contribution of more than 125 Sikh women. Her book "Essays in Sikh History" too has also been approved for publication. She has also contributed research papers to various journals.
I have already published a book on the contribution of the non-Sikhs to the Sikh history. This inspired me to write a book on the role of the Sikh women as well.
In this book I have given the sketches of more than one hundred and twenty-five women. These include members of the families of the Gurus, queens and princeses, writers and artists, martyrs and leaders and philanthropist personalities. I have given their brief sketches; these are not their comprehensive biographies. To write about them in detail would need several volumes; but my purpose, here, is to introduce to my readers, the role of some eminent women of the Sikh history.
