Book Description

Preface

I have been studying, researching and practising Hindu astrology for the last three decades. I was trained directly by late "Daivagna Ratna" and "Vidya Visardha" Sri Divakaruni Venkata Subba Rao and my beloved father Late Sri Pemmaraju Venkata Rao. I was also trained rather indirectly by Dr. B. V. Raman, the famous Indian astrologer and the editor of the esteemed Astrological Magazine, by studying all his astrological books and magazines.

My non-professional and research oriented scientific bent of mind has resulted in writing my first book entitled "How to Read a Horoscope — A Scientific model of predictions based on benefic and malefic analysis of planets and bhavas as per Hindu astrology", published by M/s Motilal, Banarsidass Publishers, Bungalow Road, Delhi-110007, India with ISBN: 81-208-1458-4 and 8l-208—1459-2, in 1997. My first book was well reviewed by many individuals, magazines, news papers and sold well in India and abroad.

After studying various books of astrology, particularly of the books of my Gurus-Dr. B. V. Raman‘s "Muhurtha" and Sri D. V. Subbarao's "Kalatra Bhava", and based on my research, I have picked and chosen what I have considered best for presenting this new approach of percentage analysis of compatibility points for matching horoscopes for marriage. I have enumerated the compatibility points to be given on the basis of Moon and other aspects of malefic planets evil, ascendants, ascendant lords, 7th house, 7 house lords, 5th house lords, Venus y and Mars, ascendant and Moon etc along with compatibility point tables and .Model horoscopes presenting my approach. I had written. An article "Matching horoscopes for Marriage", which was published in the American Federation of Astrologers journal today’s Astrologer" of February 10, 1994. Since then, many people have been requesting me to write a book on this approach. During my discussions with my Guru Dr. B. V. Raman in January 1998, when my first book "How to read a horoscope" was reviewed in his Astrological magazine, he appreciated my research approach and presentation of my first book and encouraged me to write some more books. Subsequently, Sri N. P. Jain of M/s Motilal Banarsidass Publishers, after perusing my article on "Matching Haroscopes for Marriages", also encouraged me to write a book on my methodology. Thus this book is presented.

I had validated my methodology for many horoscopes of married couples and found it quite logical and applicable in allotting compatibility points for various aspects for marriage compatibility. Subsequently, I have been applying this methodology for matching horoscopes for marriage compatibility quite successfully. I know that I have considered in my approach the Rashi charts and certain important aspects only for matching the horoscopes for marriage, without going into the details of the other Varga (divisional) charts particularly the Navamsa charts, Bhava charts, other connected bhavas such as 2nd, 5th, 12th" bhavas, Dasas (periods) etc, because these are likely to change more frequently depending on the variations in the Ayanamsas, ephemeris of Drik and Vakya Siddhantas, birth times etc. I feel that my approach in Sthula (gross) level with Rashi charts and Nakshatras (constellations) for matching the horoscopes for marriage is important first before going further into the Sukshama (subtle) level of analysis if necessary.

I hope that this book will make a useful addition to present literature on matching the horoscopes for marriage. I find nowadays that a lot of literate and scientific communities with modem computer facilities are taking a good deal of interest in studying astrology. As such I look forward to the prospect of this book being received with interest and approbation by the students as well as scholars in the subject particularly the scientific astrologers. I will be happy if the readers take this approach as basis and add more of their research points to the analysis for matching horoscopes for marriage scientifically.

I will be thankful if any suggestions for improvement are communicated to me so that they may be incorporated in my future endeavours.

I take this opportunity of giving my thanks to my many friends for their valuable suggestions. My special thanks are to my close friend, Dr. Y.V.S.R. Sastry, Professor of Mechanical Engineering (Retired), Delhi College of Engineering, Delhi, who had helped in editing, computerisation and liaisoning with the publishers and his daughter, Mrs. Surya Kumari, for preparing the computer manuscript of camera ready copy, My thanks are also to my Guru Dr. B. V. Raman for encouraging me to write another book, Sri N. P. Jain of M/s Motilal Banarsidass Publishers for taking personal interest in publishing this book and my beloved wife, P. Bharati for fully supporting my endeavours. Lastly my sincere prayers are to Sri Shirdhi Sai Baba and to our family deities Lord Venkateshwara and Alivelu Manga.

From the Jacket :

A scientific methodology based on compatibility on Moon and other aspects is evolved for matching the horoscopes for marriage partners. The magnetic control, amenability, psychological dispositions, mental qualities, bodily/physical contacts, affection, harmony, progeny, temperament, character, pulse or nervous energy indicating physiological and to certain amount hereditary factors, duration of married life, widowhood etc. are considered for matching horoscopes. Tables for compatibility points are given. Accordingly, a criteria is evolved for matching of the two horoscopes as poor, fair, good, very good, excellent.

The book is rich in all useful tables which are beautiful presented in the book. The book also contains almost all primary principles related to Matching the horoscopes for marriage prevalent in North as well South of the Indian Sub continent.
