In This Metropolis

Hari Kishan Kaul's Sahitya Akademi award winning collection of short stories, 'In This Metropolis', deals with a vast range of human experience. The stories 'Farewell' and 'A complex game' interweave gentle satire with a clear eyed portrayal of the corruption and complacent hypocrisy which are an undeniable part of life today. Others including 'Hangul' and 'Renunciation Raga' portray the unpredictability and complexity of human relationships and social interactions. Dr Ranjana Kaul teaches English in the College of Vocational Studies, Delhi. She has published translations of the works of other authors in various journals and magazines.
