Preface
This book contains the speeches of eminent national leaders of India who on their visit to Santhigiri Ashram opened up their mind to acknowledge the unique values for which the Ashram, founded by Navajyothisree Karunakara Guru, stands, as well as to express their personal feelings about the Ashram. Deep in their hearts, our leaders desire for a glorious India in which there will be peace, brotherhood, health and prosperity for all people as also the victory of the moral values and culture in line with the long tradition of India - an India which is not fragmented by the iron claws of religion, caste, region, community and so on. Navajyothisree Karunakara Guru espoused these values in a more focused way, giving a spiritual thrust to the task of nation building. Guru spoke with vehemence as also with the softness of Divine Love on the issues which heavily weigh down on India. Navajyothisree Karunakara Guru worked as a revolutionary. His life was dedicated to the rejuvenation of Sanatana Dharma, which is the foundation of the secular values of India. Guru tried to sensitize the nation through its leaders and intellectuals, as would be evident from a letter He wrote to Smt. Indira Gandhi in the year 1984, which is included in this collection of speeches. The great utterances of the Guru, translated from Malayalam, dwell upon the basic reasons for the value distortions which have grievously fragmented Indian culture and spirituality. The analysis which Guru made of the Indian situation is unparalleled. No sociolo-gist, thinker, administrator, philosopher and reformer can turn his back on the words of Guru. We offer this collection with the prayer and hope that India will wake up to the realities of the times and act in accordance with the wisdom of the sages to become a truly great power and leader among all nations.
