He is also a member of the Royal College of Physicians of London, Glasgow and Canada all by examination. He is practicing Physician and Professor of Indian studies at Carleton University in Ottawa,Canada. His main interest is in Indian aesthetics. He has travelled extensively in India and abroad, giving lecture- demonstrations on the techniques of Pahari painting and has studied major collections of Indian paintings across the world. He has written and edited several books and has several research articles to his credit. Besides a prolific writer and art critic he paints in various styles of Indian painting, chiefly Basholi and Kangra schools of Pahari painting.
