Book Description

About the Book

Many authors have written about the Alpine and Subalpine regions of the Himalaya but we felt the knowledge given by those authors is incomplete and scattered. Thus our mission towards a comprehensive and detailed text about the Kashmir Himalayas under a single title is the book in your hand on the subject "Mountains of Jammu and Kashmir".
The state of Jammu and Kashmir is divided into three regions: the foothill plains of Jammu, the lakes and blue valleys of Kashmir rising to alpine passes and the high altitude plains and starkly beautiful mountains Ladakh.
The book is divided into five parts - first part deals with the conservation issues of the Himalayan region which discuses various threats to the biodiversity of the region. The second part deals with the flora and fauna of the region and its exploitation by the locals/visitors. The third chapter is about the forming in the desertous region of the Kashmir Himalaya. The fourth chapter is the environment and the growing population of the Himalayas and last chapter is about the dependence of the people to these regions.
