Book Description

Preface

We hardly have the time to look at ourselves. Life is becoming faster and more complex and this speed is not really a progressive movement. It is the speed of purposelessness. If we really start asking ourselves questions the answers would shock us. Swami Paramananda's "Naturality and Love" aims to give human beings a purpose in life. It is a collection of articles written by the author over a period of time, The language, we feel, is lucid and simple and the concepts discussed are universal. The emphasis is on humanity, love and a natural and spontaneous response to life.

The author likes to address his readers directly with 'Dear Atman.' For the benefit of readers who are not familiar with Sanskrit the word 'Atman' needs to be understood. `Atman' means 'Self' or 'Consciousness' which is the basis for all creations in life. The author's address binds us all in a spiritual unity which transcends all barriers and differences we have created in life. It is like identifying oneself with the rest of the world. Divinity is really the common platform on which we can all stand together.

A few years back this book had been published under a different name, "Normality and love". We have changed the name because we felt that Naturality' is a more meaningful translation of the word `Sahajata' than `Normality.' We have also changed the structure and language of the prose in order to make it more readable and lucid. A few poems by the author have been included at the end, which we hope will enhance the readers appreciation. We believe that this book will not only be a guide to all earnest spiritual seekers, it will be a faithful companion to all those who want to enjoy the essence of their own existence.
