About the Book Other Lives Other Fragments is a tale of fragmented identities of lives broken and destroyed during violent times. It looks at the human story behind cataclysmic events through the diary of Badrul Islam, dispossessed during the 1947 and 1971 riots, and the tale of Manik, a boy who is from nowhere and is going nowhere, and how their lives touch each other. Through these searing portrayals the author tries to explore the implications of acts of hate undertaken in the name of religion and politics. As the novel moves towards its thrilling conclusion, we are left wondering what a tangled web of suffering we weave when we first practice to hate. And how many barriers we can break down when we love.
