The present work contains a detailed information about the Post-Paninian systems of Sanskrit Grammar which were written from First century A.D. to 16th century A.D., mainly with the view of presenting the rules of learning Sanskrit vyakarana in the easiest but comprehensive form. Efforts have been made to elucidate and evaluate the method and technique adopted in the various systems. I have included the in this work- Katantra, Candra, Jainendra, Sakatayana, Sarasvatikantha-bharana, Sarasvata, Mugdha-hodha, Haima, Samks-Iptasara and Supadma Vayakarana
About the Author:
Dr R. S. Saini M.A. (Sanskrit, History and Buddhist Studies) L.L.B. Ph.D, born on sept.. 20, 1938 at Ballabhagarh, a village in the Faridabad district (Haryana), started his academic careen in 1965 as a lecturer in Sanskrit in the Hastinapur College (Eve.), now know as Moti Lal Nehru College (Eve.) University of Delhi, Delhi-21.
Dr. Saini got the merit scholarship of Ministry of Education, Govt. of India from 1961-1964 for his Doctoral research work "A study of Post Paninian Systems of Sanskrit Grammar with Special reference to their Technique and Scope." In 1971 Dr. Saini got selection grade. In 1991 he was appointed Principal of the college.
Since 1968 Dr. Saini has been teaching to the P.G. students in the Deptt. of Sanskrit, History and the Buddhist Studies in the University of Delhi. Besides being a research supervisor of the students for M.Phil and Ph. D., Dr. Saini himself was written about 40 research papers on Sanskrit grammar and Epigraphy. Dr. Saini has published the following books to his credit :
1. Durghatavrtti, 2. Katantra-Vyakarana, 3. Narasinmapurana, 4. Supadama-Vyakarana, 5. Samksipatasara-Vyakarana.
Dr. Saini has expertised in deciphering the Ancient Indian scripts like Asokan Brahmi, Gupta Brahmi and other Post Gupta scripts along with the modern languages like Punjabi, Urdu, Bengali and French. Dr. Saini has completed 3 minor research projects and one major research projects and one major research project, financed by the University Grants Commission. He has been coordinator of a major research project entitled: A Descriptive Catalogue of Sanskrit Inscriptions." At present, Dr. Saini is engaged in writing a book of Contribution of Haryana in 1857."
